"NO SNOW" Indoor 5K

Tired of walking on treadmills or slipping on the snow and ice while jogging on the sidewalks and roads? Well, come to Utah Valley University on February 7th, 2009 and participate in the First Annual UVU indoor 5K! Bring your family and friends and experience the beautiful UVU campus while getting some exercise!


When: February 7th, 2009


Time: *Registration begins at 8:00am and jog/walk begins at 9:00am.


Where: Utah Valley University McKay Events Center-Free parking is available in the lot immediately west of the McKay Events Center.


Registration fee: $10.00 - t-shirt and pancake breakfast included All proceeds will be donated to the UVU Habitat for Humanity of Utah County house.


*Check or cash will only be accepted at the onsite registration on February 7th. If you would like to register early or pay with a credit card go to the UVU Outdoor Adventure Center located in the Sorensen Student Center. Registration at the OAC will be accepted until February 6th.

Carter-Kellogg Scholarship presented by Stetson University


The Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation, in coordination with Stetson University, announces the Carter-Kellogg Scholarship presented by Stetson University. Full-time college students who have completed or implemented service-learning projects are eligible to compete for $500 scholarships. To apply, students should describe their project activities and results, and a critical reflection on what they learned. Students must be able to articulate clearly the role that academics played in their project and the effects the project has had on the community. More specific guidelines and the online application can be found at www.servicebook.org. The deadline for this competition is rolling, with winners being selected monthly. To be included in the February competition, submissions must be completed by February 20.

Nominations for Silver Bowl

The Utah Annual Silver Bowl Award is now accepting nominations. The award recognizes a volunteer or group of volunteers from each county in Utah. Nominations of outstanding, long-term volunteers in Utah and Wasatch County who have made a difference in the community are needed. Please bring with you:
1.  A copy of  your Drivers License.
2.  A copy of your Automobile Insurance Coverage.
3.  Three References whom you have known one year but are not related to you.
4. Immunization records for childhood disease Chicken pocks, Mumps & Measles ( if possible ).

All Hospice Volunteers will receive compressive training in Hospice Care & letters of recommendation after 4 months of  volunteering with LifePath Hospice.

March of Dimes (Utah County)


Liby Lewis with the March of Dimes is looking for a Service Group to help out the March for Babies event day.  They are having a meeting on Feb 12 1 pm at Zions by BYU.

Volunteers needed from 6:30am to noon on May 16.

They'd also love to have teams of walkers too, just taking part in the event, will help reach people with the March of Dimes message.

4-H Family Night

4-H is having a Family Night Out on Monday, Jan. 12th at 6pm at the 100 E. 100 S. in Provo in the Utah County Administration building. They are understaffed and are in need setting up and serving dinner to the 4-H children and their families. The dinner starts at 6pm so if you are willing to help set up please be there by 5:30. Volunteer Interviewers Needed for the 2009 National Hunger Study!

Utah Food Bank Services has been asked to participate in a nationwide hunger study sponsored by Feeding America. We are looking at recruiting volunteers to conduct surveys of the clients who are patrons of our pantries throughout the state, including in the Utah County area. There are not many specifics available yet as to dates and times required by volunteers; however, we thought we’d start to gather information about those who would potentially be interested in volunteering to help.
