Looking for a fun way to volunteer? Or just wanna help a friend out?


The YMCA of Greater Salt Lake will be hosting its 11th annual Sports Night benefit for kids at the Salt Palace May 1st 2009. The YMCA will be honoring Utah's best athletes and former athletes including; Judge Tyrone Medley and former BYU football coach LaVell Edwards and others. The evening will include a Social Hour, Silent Auction, Dinner, Live auction and presentation of awards to the honorees.

To make this event a success we need several volunteers. Volunteers will be needed for event set up on May 1st from about 10am until 2pm as well as for the event itself. The event volunteers will be needed from 4:30pm to 9:30pm. (breaks will be provided)

Food & Care Coalition Benefit Concert

The show is April 11th at 8:00 pm at Velour in Provo (135 N. University Avenue)
The band Parker from Idaho is coming down to play as well as two amazing local bands: The Vibrant Sound and Elizabethan Report.
The concert is $7 but you get a dollar off by bringing a can of food to donate.

Special Olympics UT



Volunteer to help with the soccer games at the Utah Special Olympics!

Some Details:
The games are played all day on May 29 and 30 (Thurs & Fri.)
Each game is roughly 40 minutes.
Rules are simple- anyone can do it.

Students Giving Back Charity Ball


On Friday March 27th Students Giving Back will host a Charity Ball and Silent Auction from 7 to 10:30 pm at Provo City Library to benefit United Way of Utah County. Dress is formal and lots of fun will be had! Tickets are sold prior to the event at BYU and UVU for $12. They can also be purchased for $15 at the door. Dress up and get down!

Humanitarian Projects 11am-2pm (Art Wall)
Put on by the LDSSA
*Come join us in between your classes to work on various humanitarian projects.


Adopt-A-Grandparent 6pm (Meet in SC101)
Put on by Tennis Club
*Enjoy an evening with the elderly.

WEDNESDAY: April 1st

Blood Drive (sign up in SC 101)
10am-3pm in Ballroom Commons
*Your blood is needed and you can help save a life.

THURSDAY: April 2nd

“SOUP” POSIUM: soup night 6pm (Ballroom)
Put on by the PR Firm & Clubs
*Join us to learn more about hunger in Utah County and enjoy a bowl of soup. Buy Tickets at campus connection for $3 or $5 at the door. All proceeds go to the Food and Care Coalition.

FRIDAY: April 3rd

Put on by CAL & Service Council
*Help put on a carnival for children with varying disabilities. Sign up in SC 101 and shuttle will leave every hour starting at 11:30.

SATURDAY: April 4th

Adopt-A-Highway Clean-Up 8am
Put on by UVUSA & Kappa Sigma
*Come join us to clean up a 2 mile stretch on Geneva Road. Breakfast will be provided.
Meet at Lake Side Park (400 S & Geneva Rd. Orem)

2nd Annual Benefit SUNRISE OVER AFRICA Gala & Silent Auction


Come join us in this second annual benefit fundraiser for the children in Africa. All proceeds will benefit the Ssejinja Children's Foundation!

Habitat for Humanity Benefit Show

Come enjoy great night of comedy while giving to a good cause! Habitat for Humanity of Utah County will be hosting a benefit show night with Comedy Sportz on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 8:30 p.m. at the Tahitian Noni Auditorium located at 5151 North 300 West, Provo. Tickets are 8.00 and can be purchased at the door (check or cash). Proceeds will assist with the local Habitat affiliate's affordable housing efforts.

Furniture Donations

An Iraqi family has been accepted for resettlement in the US. They are coming to Utah the middle of March and are in need of some gently used furniture for their apartment. They have three children and will be living in a 2 bedroom apartment. Anything you may have to contribute will be greatly appreciated. "Bowls for Humanity" Fundraiser


The 3rd Annual "Bowls for Humanity" fundraiser will be held on Friday, March 6th at the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo. The event will showcase pottery from both student and professional talents.

Proceeds are going to benefit the Food and Care Coalition.

Time: 6 to 9pm
Location: 425 W. Center St. in Provo
Admission: Free
Pottery & Food: $5 for student pottery bowls (includes soup & roll), $20 professional pottery bowls (includes soup & roll), $3 soup & roll.

Choose a summer of service with the 2009 Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service. Scholarship applications are being accepted for this nonprofit internship and academic program for undergraduate students.

The Institute is ideal for undergraduate student leaders who are engaged in service programs on and off their campuses. All majors and fields of study are welcome.

This face-paced Institute offers a combination of professional experience, academic courses and leadership development activities including:

* Nonprofit Internships - Competitive placements with leading nonprofit organizations

* Classes - Up to 9 credit hours from Georgetown University

* Housing - Furnished on-campus apartments in the heart of D.C.

* Service - Variety of hands-on community projects

* Guest Lectures - With Washington's top nonprofit executives and scholars

Volunteers Needed for Expanding Your Horizons Conference


The Equity Center is excited to announce this years Expanding Your Horizons Conference for girls 6th thru 12th grade. This conference isdesigned to encourage and get girls excited about high-paying careers in Science and Technology. This years conference will be on March 7th 2009 in the Grande Ballroom at UVU. The Conference will run from 7 am until 12:30.


We will need Volunteersfrom 6 am until about 2:30.

Volunteers will help with the following:
-Set up
-Checking in participants
-Handing out snacks
-Show presenters to their rooms and helping them set-up
-Tech support (if familiar)
-Show participants to their rooms
-Give directions between workshops
-Set up interactive booths
-Hand out lunches
-Hand out t-shirts
-Clean-up

You don't need to stay for the entire conference; any time you can give is much appreciated. Our greatest need is early in the morning.

Volunteers have really enjoyed working at our conferences in the past and the day goes by so fast! Some advice is to wear comfy clothes and shoes (you don't need to dress up).

March of Dimes (Utah County)



Liby Lewis with the March of Dimes is looking for a Service Group to help out the March for Babies event day. They are having a meeting on Feb 12 1 pm at Zions by BYU.

1.  A copy of  your Drivers License.
2.  A copy of your Automobile Insurance Coverage.
3.  Three References whom you have known one year but are not related to you.
4. Immunization records for childhood disease Chicken pocks, Mumps & Measles ( if possible ).

All Hospice Volunteers will receive compressive training in Hospice Care & letters of recommendation after 4 months of  volunteering with LifePath Hospice.

"NO SNOW" Indoor 5K


Tired of walking on treadmills or slipping on the snow and ice while jogging on the sidewalks and roads? Well, come to Utah Valley University on February 7th, 2009 and participate in the First Annual UVU indoor 5K! Bring your family and friends and experience the beautiful UVU campus while getting some exercise!

When: February 7th, 2009

Time: *Registration begins at 8:00am and jog/walk begins at 9:00am.

Where: Utah Valley University McKay Events Center-Free parking is available in the lot immediately west of the McKay Events Center.

Registration fee: $10.00 - t-shirt and pancake breakfast included
All proceeds will be donated to the UVU Habitat for Humanity of Utah County house.

Volunteer Interviewers Needed for the 2009 National Hunger Study!

Utah Food Bank Services has been asked to participate in a nationwide hunger study sponsored by Feeding America. We are looking at recruiting volunteers to conduct surveys of the clients who are patrons of our pantries throughout the state, including in the Utah County area. There are not many specifics available yet as to dates and times required by volunteers; however, we thought we’d start to gather information about those who would potentially be interested in volunteering to help.
