Habitat for Humanity of Utah County Campus Chapter opportunity: Are you looking for a substantial volunteer opportunity? Do you need toshow off your leadership skills to future employers, college admissionscounselors, or graduate schools? You may want to start a chapter of Habitatfor Humanity right on your campus.


Campus chapters are student-led, student-initiated organizations on college or high school campuses that partner with the local affiliate to fulfill the four functions of campus chapters: advocating, building, educating, andfundraising.

"Bowls for Humanity" Fundraiser


The 3rd Annual "Bowls for Humanity" fundraiser will be held on Friday, March 6th at the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo. The event will showcase pottery from both student and professional talents.

Proceeds are going to benefit the Food and Care Coalition.

Time: 6 to 9pm
Location: 425 W. Center St. in Provo
Admission: Free
Pottery & Food: $5 for student pottery bowls (includes soup & roll), $20 professional pottery bowls (includes soup & roll), $3 soup & roll.

Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service

This summer: June 6 - August 1, 2009
Georgetown University, Washington, DC

Choose a summer of service with the 2009 Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service. Scholarship applications are being accepted for this nonprofit internship and academic program for undergraduate students.

The Institute is ideal for undergraduate student leaders who are engaged in service programs on and off their campuses. All majors and fields of study are welcome.

This face-paced Institute offers a combination of professional experience, academic courses and leadership development activities including:

* Nonprofit Internships - Competitive placements with leading nonprofit organizations

* Classes - Up to 9 credit hours from Georgetown University

* Housing - Furnished on-campus apartments in the heart of D.C.

* Service - Variety of hands-on community projects

* Guest Lectures - With Washington's top nonprofit executives and scholars

* Leadership Development - Leadership, mentoring and career building activities

* Scholarships - Over half of all students receive full or partial funding

* Networking - With hundreds of other top student and nonprofit leaders from around the world

Volunteers Needed for Expanding Your Horizons Conference


The Equity Center is excited to announce this years Expanding Your Horizons Conference for girls 6th thru 12th grade. This conference isdesigned to encourage and get girls excited about high-paying careers in Science and Technology. This years conference will be on March 7th 2009 in the Grande Ballroom at UVU. The Conference will run from 7 am until 12:30.


We will need Volunteersfrom 6 am until about 2:30.

Volunteers will help with the following:
-Set up
-Checking in participants
-Handing out snacks
-Show presenters to their rooms and helping them set-up
-Tech support (if familiar)
-Show participants to their rooms
-Give directions between workshops
-Set up interactive booths
-Hand out lunches
-Hand out t-shirts
-Clean-up

You don't need to stay for the entire conference; any time you can give is much appreciated. Our greatest need is early in the morning.

Volunteers have really enjoyed working at our conferences in the past and the day goes by so fast! Some advice is to wear comfy clothes and shoes (you don't need to dress up).

March of Dimes (Utah County)



Liby Lewis with the March of Dimes is looking for a Service Group to help out the March for Babies event day. They are having a meeting on Feb 12 1 pm at Zions by BYU.


Volunteers needed from 6:30am to noon on May 16.



They'd also love to have teams of walkers too, just taking part in the event, will help reach people with the March of Dimes message.

Nominations Now Being Accepted for Service-Learning Awards


Nominations are now being accepted for Utah Campus Compact Statewide Recognition Event and the UVU Volunteer & Service-Learning Center Recognition & Appreciation Luncheon. The purpose of these events is to recognize the work of outstanding faculty, staff, students, on a statewide and institutional level who are excelling in civic engagement, service-learning, and volunteerism. Recipients of the awards will be honored at both events which are held in April.

Nominations are now being accepted for the following categories:

4. Committed Community Partner
